Day 5 – La Pedrera to Cabo Polonio

Pick up from your hotel lobby to go on the Cabo Polonio Full Day Tour.
Located on the Northeastern area of the country, more precisely in the Department of Rocha, Cabo Polonio (Polonio Cape) is a real, practically untouched paradise. Due to the quietness of its beaches and the subtlety of its buildings, in the last few years, it has been one of the most visited seaside towns by those looking for a place to rest.  One of its features is that most of its housing units do not have electricity or running water.  Therefore, the rhythm and tasks of its dwellers are set by sunlight, from dawn to dusk, we might say.  Its geographic location makes it stand opposite three small islands known as La Encantada, El Islote and La Rasa. They shelter a steady colony of sea lions. The weather at Cabo Polonio is very cold in the winter and very warm in the summer. The ideal season to visit this place is spring, as temperatures reach 25 º C. From La Pedrera, Cabo is reached by car or by bus. A milestone marks the entrance to town. Once there, there are three ways to reach the beaches almost 6 kms away; walking on sand and up and down dunes, going by vehicle (Jeep or special all ) trucks or renting a horse. Cabo Polonio lies 150 kilometers away from the City of Punta del Este and 264 kilometers away from Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay: What was once a sleep and tiny fisherman’s village has gradually grown into a place where handicraft markets and activities catering to tourists have boomed thanks to a steady flow of visitors year after year.
Its proximity to other seaside “towns” such as Valizas and Aguas Dulces –of easier access than Cabo- has turned the place into a popular destination to visit from either of those places.   Its beautiful, wide and warm beaches, added to the presence of the lighthouse, small bars and restaurants and the local handcraft stands, make this a perfect destination.  During the evenings, candles and street lamps light the town up until dawn. Even without electricity or running water, Cabo Polonio is one of those places with a special charm, which captivates and relaxes everyone choosing to visit.  Many have come to this place to stay.
Location for lunch is of your choice and cost is not included.

Day 6 – La Pedrera

Day at your leisure to enjoy La Pedrera’s beaches and calm surroundings.
